Bottom’s Up – Part 5: A Crown & A Semi | @FMCM_FC

Here’s Nathan for one final time this season. This save is only just getting warmed up so I do hope it’ll be back in a few weeks!

Evening all and welcome back to the world where everything is upside. In this update we will look to finish season 1 and do a round up of all the active leagues. With Rangers, We have already been promoted and the title should follow shortly. We are also in the UEFA Cup QF. So let’s wrap up season 1.

I change the full XI here as we have UEFA Cup action next. Petrie gives Dunfermline the lead after a blocked shot causes havoc and Petrie is the man to poke the ball home. Our equaliser comes in the second half when Charlie Miller wins the ball and sets Fitzgerald free on goal and Fitzy fires his shot under Lemaijc.

Title done and dusted. Division 2 here we come!

It’s a fantastic first leg for us as we pick up a big win at home. I must admit for the first half an hour I didn’t think we would score because our finishing was woeful! Our first goal is a sloppy one with Negri bundling the ball over the line. A mistake at the back allows Cavaco to make it 2-0 before half time. Gazza then cuts inside and slots home a 3rd before setting up Laudrup for our 4th. We disappointingly let in a late consolation goal for Helsingborg’s to take the gloss off slightly.

I couldn’t rest the team for the Old Firm Derby and we pick up another 3 points against them. We make a poor start with Wright scoring an own goal but within 10 minutes Gould is sent off for taking out Negri in the box. Negri steps up and converts the penalty. Gazza wins it for us early in the second half with one his trademark mazy runs and deft finish to send Ibrox wild!

Job done in Sweden. We are through to the Semi Finals. Laudrup gives us an early lead thanks to some good work from Gazza. Hammarstrom then equalises with a fine curling effort. Wibran then breaks free and makes it 2-1 to the hosts. It stays that way until the 85th minute when Farouk smashes a pass back which powers past his own keeper.

A truly bonkers game here. We race into a 5-0 lead within the first 25 minutes. We take our foot completely off the gas and by half time it’s 5-3. McCoist gets his hattrick after the hour mark and McCann makes it 6-4 in the 91st minute. Ridiculous!

I love a win against Dundee United. Bowman gives them the lead with a wonder goal from range. We turn the screw in the second half and goals from McCoist and Cavaco seal the win.

Really poor from our second string here. Slavin somehow manges to get man of the match despite scoring a first half own goal which settles the game.

A classic in the UEFA Cup Semi Final against a strong Ajax team. The Laudrup Derby as brothers Michael and Brian lineup against each other. Ajax give us a real footballing lesson in the first half and we are chasing shadows. Demtsjenko scores from a deflected shot. He then sets up Arveladze for their second. Arveladze then makes it 3-0 inside 25 minutes. Porrini gives us a lifeline just before half time. In the second half we rally. Cavaco turns his marker and lashes a vicious shot into the top corner. Ally McCoist then levels the scores and it looks like a great draw until we give a cheap ball away at the back which lets Demtsjenko score an easy winner.

Back to winning ways in the league as Cavaco runs the show. His two goals are straight out the top draw. He also makes a mazy run before teeing up Gazza for our third. Our defensive frailties come out in the second half as we allow McIntyre to slip through and grab a consolation goal for Kilmarnock.

It’s the final day of the league season and we put on a show for our coronation. Van Vossen is in lethal form converting all 3 chances that he gets. Craig Moore opens the scoring with a powerful header from a corner. O’Boyle grabs a goal back in the second half but the party starts at the full time whistle.

It’s not to be in the UEFA Cup as Ajax do a thoroughly professional job on us. Ronald De Boer opens the scoring in a quiet first half. In the second half the wrong Laudrup scores as Michael waltzes through our defence and slots his shot into the bottom corner.

So that is our season over and done with. A quick look at the final league table before we have a look at the rest of the leagues.

We take the league at a canter and we look forward to more Old Firm games in Division 2 next season with Celtic.

What a season in the Scottish Prem. Alloa winning out by the slimmest of margins!

Hibs beat Dundee United in the Scottish FA Cup final and Clydebank beat Ayr United in the League Cup. Clydebank are also into the Prem next season as Division 1 champions.

Man Utd run away with Division 3 with Newcastle and Arsenal going up automatically and Liverpool beating Spurs in the Playoff final.

Jeff Stelling is losing his mind right now as his beloved Hartlepool claim the Premier League Title. Bjorn just missing out but will be playing European football next season. Sunderland beat Coventry to win the FA Cup and Man Utd add the league cup to their Division 3 title.

Juventus win Serie B with both Milan clubs and Lazio making it back to Serie A. Surprised to see Parma spending another season in Serie B

Ravenna win Serie A send their fans wild. Not to be for Padova and Torino.

Juventus add the Coppa Italia to their Serie B title as well.

Real Madrid rule Europe once again beating PSG in the final.

Ajax win the UEFA Cup after beating us in the semis and Kaiserslautern in the final.

That’s it for season 1. Join me next time as this crazy upside down world gets even crazier! Until then Bottom’s Up!
